JOB DESCRIPTION :-
This role is for a Senior Systems Administrator to take responsibility for the provision of day to day support and administration of a production mission critical infrastructure environment.
· Work as part of the IT team providing critical infrastructure systems support for a 24X7 mission critical enterprise environment that supports a large engineering development user base.
· Will be a key member of the Global Engineering IT Team who should be prepared to work on projects, designing and implementing solutions and day to day operations, managing and resolving daily support trouble tickets.
· Install OS, patches, software, hardware, upgrades while working closely with external vendors.
· Work with IT and business stakeholders to lead capacity planning and performance tuning of the environment to optimize performance regionally and globally.
· Work with the IT teams globally, recommending improvements in system resilience and reliability.
· Assist in the enhancement and evolution of existing processes and Service Level Agreements.
· The successful candidate should have the skills to manage an array of storage solutions (SAN, NAS) primarily consisting of Netapp systems.
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED :
· University Degree or equivalent qualification with 10 -14 years relevant hands on experience supporting business and/or mission critical systems environments.
· UNIX skills principally in the areas of Redhat Linux and Sun Solaris essential. Linux skills principally in Red Hat Linux.
· Very good shell/perl programming skills are essential. Knowledge of Python/PHP programming is desirable.
· Good knowledge of Platform LSF.
· Experienced in administering network services such as DNS, NIS, NFS, LDAP, sendmail, ftp, rsync and SSH.
· Experience with VMWare Virtualization products like vSphere, Vcentre, ESX server.
· Experience of working with HP/Dell Blade servers.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
· Experienced in administering enterprise tape backup systems such as Veritas Netbackup. And experienced in administering enterprise tape library systems such as Sun L100 tape library.
· Experienced in systems server infrastructure planning, testing, deployment, operations, and maintenance.
· Experienced with capacity planning, utilization review, and performance monitoring.
· Ability to work independently, as well as part of a global support team with minimal supervision.
· Have an analytical mind which can apply trouble shooting skills systemically and methodologically to identify root cause and resolve problems.
· A team player who possesses excellent communication and team-working skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate well with management and users at all levels.
· Some experience on Project Management is desirable.
